About The Pasifika

The Journal of the Blue Continent

The Pasifika is a new independent journal of ideas, geopolitics, and culture dedicated to the Pacific region.

We were founded on a simple premise:

The Pacific is not the edge of the world. It is the center of it.

For too long, the narrative of our region has been defined by outsiders or limited by the tyranny of distance. The world sees "small islands." We see Large Ocean States. The world sees a geopolitical chessboard. We see a complex, vibrant, and strategic region that holds the key to the planet’s climate, maritime, and economic future.

We exist to bridge the gap between the islands and the world. We provide the depth of a quarterly review with the urgency of a digital platform, serving diplomats, investors, policy-makers, and global citizens who demand more than just breaking news.

What We Cover

We move beyond the 24-hour news cycle to focus on the structural forces shaping the region. Our coverage is built on three pillars:

01. Intelligence & Geopolitics

We analyze the shifting tides of power in Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. From the strategic competition between Great Powers to the internal political dynamics of island nations, we offer unvarnished, high-level analysis.

02. The Blue Economy

The Pacific is the next frontier of the global economy. We cover fisheries, deep-sea mining, climate finance, and digital infrastructure, providing actionable insights for those investing in the region’s future.

03. Culture & Society

A region cannot be understood through policy papers alone. We publish essays on history, literature, and the arts, championing the rich cultural heritage that defines the Pacific identity.

Our Editorial Standards

The Pasifika is non-partisan and independent. We are not funded by any government or political interest group.

  • Depth over Breadth: We do not chase clicks. We publish fewer stories, but we invest the time to get them right.
  • Indigenous First: We believe the most sharp-eyed observer of the Pacific is someone who calls it home. We actively prioritize writers, journalists, and thinkers from the region.
  • The Long View: We are interested in the fifty-year trend, not the five-minute distraction.
