WHY WE ARE HERE

The Centre of the Map

For too long, the world has looked at the Pacific and seen only "smallness." They see dots on a map, holiday destinations, or strategic supply lines. When the global media turns its gaze to our region, it is usually to ask one of two questions: “Will they sink?” or “Whose side are they on?”

ThePasifika.com exists to reclaim the narrative.

We are a new journal of ideas dedicated to the Blue Continent. We believe that the nations of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia are not merely "islands in a far sea"—they are Large Ocean States, custodians of a resource that feeds and connects the globe.

We are not here to chase breaking news. We are here to provide intelligence.

What to expect when we launch:

  • The Deep Dive: Monthly essays on the forces shaping the region—from the seabed mining rush in Nauru to the digital sovereignty of Tuvalu.
  • The Briefing: A weekly intelligence summary that separates signal from noise.
  • The Culture: Reviews and commentary that treat Pacific art and history with the seriousness they deserve.

We are building the publication that this region has been waiting for. We invite you to be part of the foundation.
